Love is such a dangerous drug. We love foolishly, passionately and vigorously. At times we bottle our feelings in. We are so afraid to express our entire devotion towards the one we love because we are afraid of unrequited feelings.
We are fragile in so many ways yet we have the capacity to keep on giving even if we are constantly getting hurt in return. We see pass all the flaws and we tear up all these walls — only to unconditionally love that person.
It’s such a thrilling experience when you open up and give your all to someone. When you strive and work so hard just to get them to notice the little things, but I’ve realized in this illusion we forget about ourselves.
Happiness is something we all strive for, but some of us tend to seek it in relationships that bring out the best in us (or so we think).
We need to recognize our worth before we fall in love, or share our energy with someone else.
We just can’t fall in love with the mere concept of love. Learn to love every aspect of yourself first so that you can have the confidence to freely project and share that sense of wonder with someone else.
Loving yourself takes lots of confidence and very little self-criticism. It’s a spiritual journey of acceptance and understanding, and more courage than you may feel like you have some days. Take care of your body, mind, and spirit and discover how to truly love yourself:

Surround yourself around great energy. We live in a world where we are constantly exposed to so much negativity and it can all be overwhelming. Don’t let negative thoughts, or the opinions of others defined who you are.
I think author Elizabeth Gilbert said it best in her book, Big Magic:
“A whole bunch of people had some opinions about my novel for a short while, and then everyone moved on, because people are busy and they have their own lives to think about.”
Remember that a storm is only temporary. Try to find some piece of light, some hope on your abyss of darkness.
2- Write Love Letters to Yourself
Why is it that it’s so easy for us to see the beauty in someone else, but not in ourselves?
Letting go of self-judgment is very hard, but it’s not impossible. Trust me, I get it, we all have those days where we don’t feel confident about ourselves. You’ll look in the mirror and think you’re not good enough, but once you start loving what’s in the outside, you will start loving what’s in the inside too.
Remind yourself that you are wonderful by writing love letters to yourself. You can do it quickly in the morning as a confidence booster to start your day off in a positive note.
By staying grounded in all your great qualities, you will learn to see the world in a whole different light.
3- Break Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Challenge yourself and be impulsive. You probably surprised yourself the day you mustered up the courage to tell that guy/girl that you loved them, right? So what’s one more new or uncomfortable experience?
Get out of your shell and imagine the possibilities. You are capable of conquering all of your fears.
4- Find What You’re Good At
Dream it, breathe it, and live that passion because truly there’s no more of a remarkable feeling than waking up with a purpose. Dreams are what move us forward when all else seems to be against us.
Discovering your strengths will also help remind you about your inner power. You are in control, you can make a difference. I believe wholeheartedly that we are all destined for greatness, but it all starts when we believe in ourselves.
5- Finish a Project
Do you have a habit of starting projects, but not finishing them? It’s perfectly normal to start something and then lose motivation halfway through.
The Solution: Break down your project into smaller pieces. Perhaps if you create a set of goals you will be able to stay focused, and you can even reward yourself along the way for your progress.
6- Celebrate Your Achievements
It might feel weird at first to boast about your accomplishments, but it’s important to remind yourself how far you’ve come.
7- Set New Goals
Once the celebration is over, set new goals for yourself. If you keep yourself motivated you will be able to accomplish anything.
Plus, it’s a great way to keep the wheels of your inner spirit in motion. Congratulations, you are now making time for YOU!
8- Learn to Meditate and Exercise
Cancel out all the negative aura around you and be in tuned with yourself. Meditation will help you to understand your mind, while exercising will help to take care of your body.
9- Bask in the Beauty of Nature
Go out and enjoy your surroundings, preferably without electronics. Lie on the beach and soak up the sun, or dance in the rain like nobody’s watching!
10- Travel the World
Different cultures are what makes this world so great. Learn from those who live in the country you’re visiting. Believe it or not, people enrich your travels more than sights do.
11- Smile Often, Spread Happiness
Spread love and light with a smile. Even if you have to fake it. Did you know that even faking a smile can be beneficial? Faking a smile releases endorphins, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety.
Remember shining bright does not dim the light of others. When you withhold love from yourself, you withhold it from everyone else, so smile often and spread happiness!
